A ground-up new design in 2014, the Yamaha FZ-09 has been hailed as one of the best budget “urban sport” motorcycles ever produced. Its 847cc triple cylinder engine produces plenty of power at low RPM, to make it into a commuter missile. The FZ-09 is a true rider’s bike — it makes its budget price by leaving off such niceties as a slipper clutch, high end brakes (or ABS) active suspension or many other handling features which are more and more common on performance/street bikes today. But the stripped-down ride gives the rider a connection to the road many modern bikes are lacking as well — for better or worse.
